We took our renowned card program and structured it like a business - giving it a name, a senior leadership team, the ability to buy cards online and some oversight from our staff. The result is Kid's Corp., a new entreprenuerial experience where our kids learn first-hand how to run a company.

Following the formation of this new company, we posted openings for a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Vice President of Operations (VPO) and recruited our kids to get involved. Following an interview process, Jacob Wilson and Sebastian Marquardt have been named CEO and VPO respectively. Both of these kids are exceptionally talented and thrilled to be on board. My experience as being the CEO of St. Jude’s Ranch for Children’s Card Program has been both exciting and fulfilling.  When I first started it was hard to teach every new employee how to make cards and also be safe while at work.  This past month production has gotten a lot smoother.  We are now at a steady pace.  We are very excited to have this opportunity to grow and learn.  In the future we hope to progress and have a successful business of our own.

My experience as VPO has been very exciting.  I have learned the fundamentals of how to budget a business.  I have learned in the business how to accurately keep track of inventory and money made in a business.  Even though at first it was really hard to get used to, I now have the knowledge of doing my job well.  I hope that in the future I am able to use this knowledge in opening a new business.  I am very glad that I was given the opportunity to work for this company.
